Song of the White Tree is a medium sized purse that features the hummingbird, "kimímila wíyaka" (pronounced kee-mee-mee-lah wee-yah-kah) and the birch tree, the birch tree was more commonly used in the Ojibwe tribes, and was not a common tree in the Great Plains, but the Lakota, like other tribes, respected the natural world and its resources and saw birch bark as a gift from the Earth. The Ojibwe would use the birch trees in making canoes, and also used in creating ceremonial items.

This purse showcases fabric on the front with quilled designs of hummingbirds and flowers intricately crafted onto birch bark.  Quillwork is a highly intricate form of art that involves the use of porcupine quills, which are dyed and stitched onto items such as the birch bark.  In Lakota history, Wíŋyaŋ Núŋpa (Double Woman) would teach women how to do quillwork in dreams and only a small amount of women would be chosen by her. These women would then form "quilling societies" where they would teach quillwork.

This purse is spacious enough to hold all your essentials and more, this purse is perfect for both everyday use and special occasions. Its bold design and elegant details make it a statement accessory.
